Main Task
Intended Evidence:
Intertextuality:
Part of my intention with my music video was to include elements of intertextuality that link to my protest which is the Black Live Matter movement. I wanted to include elements of the riots in America as well as portraying the more hidden type of racism. I would have done this through my music video as the black characters would be rebelling against the bosses. The white people would have represented the government and how they turn a blind eye to the injustice happening right in front of them.
Convergence:
If I was able to film my music video, in the description I would have added a link to my website. Furthermore I would have added the Warner Music Group watermark to the bottom of my video so that it shows that the video is apart of their company. I also would have created and added a social media page links to the description of my music video that link to the movement and to the artist's social media.
Costumes in video footage:
The black people will be wearing striped suit jackets to suggest like the striped clothes they wore in concentration camps. It suggests that they are captive of the modern world. They will wear blue bottoms i.e skirts and trousers, because the colour blue embodies the determination of the black community as they battle for change. Both of these struggles yield a family founded on strength, persistence and, most importantly, belief in a brighter future.
The white people have black suit jackets with white shirts and bottoms.
At the end of the music video everyone will take off they jackets to show the white to represent surrendering and adapting to change and the the colour blue showing that they finally won their battle.
Story Board:
Scene 1 -
On the table there are the white employees white appear to be in a position of power. one of the white males asks if they are in an agreement and the rest of the employees node their heads. Then the camera pans over to the door when then black employees burst in. *music starts playing* they are in a triangle formation.
- the line white flags blue- the artist throws of their blazer as they swing blazer it in front of the camera
end scene
Scene 2 -
The artist slams their hand on the table as the second verse begins. The extras are standing behind the people sitting down and now the artist and the white male are staring at each other across the table. The artist is singing to the white male and is showing a lot of emotion and passion on the topic.
The black actors are trying to make the white actors see them and listen to then but the white actors are ignoring them.
Scene 3 -
The chorus of the song. The main singer is singing on top of the meeting table while the other black actors are trying to get the white characters attention. Almost like a concert, she is singing to the people breaking the 4th wall.
Scene 4-
The actors throw the contracts in the air and rip up the contracts. They are coming into an agreement.
Scene 5 -
They are sitting around the table and all together. Then the camera zooms into the singer and one of the white characters shaking hands.
Inspiration for the This is America video. The music video will seem like it is in constant motion and to represent the constant motion of life. Even if you have stopped the world keeps on moving. The camera will be circling around the room as a way for the audience to see all the different people in the scene and in order for the audience to see the actors/ actress' emotions and reaction to what is happening.
